A while back I really wanted to make up some waffles, but realized I didn’t have any milk. After a little bit of googling, I found some recipes for beer waffles. I scratched my head for a few minutes and decided that, wow, that sounds kind of amazing. I made them up and am definitely sold on beer waffles; I even like them more than with milk :]

This recipe is based on one from AllRecipes.com, with two small changes.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup beer (I used Guinness)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • Waffle iron

1. Mix together all of the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt) in a bowl. Whisk in melted butter, egg, and beer. Once it is nice and smooth, add in your chocolate chips.

2. Put the batter in a waffle maker and cook until they’re golden brown. They get super fluffy, so you might want to put in a little less batter than you would typically use.

3. Enjoy your super yummy waffles 🙂
